.aapje ziet, aapje doet
januari 28, 2015 on 3:00 pm | In ge | 5 Commentsen dus wil De Tiener ook graag lesgeven. In groep vijf besloot ‘ie al dat ‘ie geen archeoloog, astronaut of kosmonaut meer wou worden, joepie, maar meester. Onlangs kwam daar nog de optie gymmeester bij, nog steeds joepie.
En muziekles geven, dat dacht ‘ie dus ook wel te kunnen.
Onlangs kwam het zo uit dat daar wel een momentje voor was en dus liet ik hem. Lesgeven. M’n kleine polletje Tiener.
Het ging goed. Aapje ziet, aapje doet.
Toch ben ik benieuwd of ‘ie ’t in zich heeft om leerkracht te worden, ik ben ondanks zijn huidige meester nog steeds van mening dat er meer mannen wenselijk zijn in het basisonderwijs.
Maar dan wel die met een meesterhart.
Op de juiste plaats.
Och als ik mijn kind toch eens zo zou kunnen grootbrengen.
Dan maakt het niet uit wat ‘ie later gaat doen ook.

Oeh meesters, daar zijn er veel te weinig van. Dus hup kind hup, wordt maar snel groot en meester 😉 😛

I became a primary teacher and left feeling rather hurt. By the profession rather than the working-with-kids side of it. The kids and staff were great, but I stopped loving the job so I had to let it go.
BUT- the experience of teaching when I was a teenager really built me up. I’m teaching some of our 12-year-olds to take some responsibility over the young ones, because I know they can do it. And that kind of responsibility is very character-building, whether you become a teacher or not. 🙂
One of the best bits is stepping back, watching them do something alone, and then suddenly realising exactly how much they can do!
Teaching did not work for me, but leadership DEFINITELY did. I am probably twice the person I would have been without being given that responsibility. I hope the Tiener gets as much out of teaching music as I did! 😀

@chris, like I said before, stop underestimating kids and see what happens.. I’m already thrilled by what they’re getting out of music, and to now to be able to add a little teaching-experience to it.. as soon as I spoke of it, more kids expressed that they would love to try it!
